ENERGO-PRO starts design of new substations in Varna to provide capacity for current and future connection requests

The program for investments in new energy facilities was presented at a meeting in the Regional Government - Varna with representatives of the Chamber of Builders and the local government
Representatives of the management of ENERGO-PRO took part in a meeting organized by the working group “Energy Future for Varna”, aimed at analyzing the development of the electricity distribution network so far and outlining the key priorities for the upcoming period. Emphasis was placed on energy infrastructure, the accompanying challenges and the necessary legislative changes. The discussion, initiated by the MP Stanislav Ivanov, was also attended by the Deputy Mayor of Varna Plamen Kitipov, experts from the Chamber of Builders and the Chamber of Surveyors, representatives of the Electricity System Operator (ESO), as well as business organizations.
Angel Angelov, Chairman of the Management Board of ENERGO-PRO, presented the investment intentions of the energy company for the expansion of substations “Maksuda” and “Trakata” with the delivery and commissioning of two new 50 MVA transformers within 2025. It has already started the process of selection of sites and conceptual planning of two future node stations for servicing new connection requests for the eastern and western parts of Varna. Their construction will reduce investors' costs for accompanying infrastructure.
Again, attention was drawn to the need for parliamentary assistance to facilitate the procedures under the Public Procurement Act for the accelerated conclusion of contracts for construction installation activities. The meeting also discussed the imposed increased security deposits and requirements for full restoration of street and sidewalk pavement, which make it difficult to effectively deploy the investment activity of the energy company. Deputy Mayor Plamen Kitipov pledged to revise the approach. The need for priority consideration of properties for substations and substations by the Municipality was emphasized.
In the course of the discussion, the management of ENERGO-PRO emphasized the significant efforts and investments that the company makes to maintain the electricity distribution network, including the construction of thresholds and the carrying out of regular preventive maintenance on the routes. It was noted that EPP North has already taken concrete actions and held meetings with various institutions in order to ensure the security of electricity supply during the winter season. However, there are difficulties associated with trees located outside the easements of the company, the timely removal of which requires the assistance of the responsible institutions, including legislative changes. An appeal was made for coordinated support from state forestry and local government, with a view to preventing emergencies and ensuring uninterrupted power supply.
