EP North installs stork platforms ahead of spring migration of migratory birds

Ensuring safe nesting conditions is part of the company's campaign to conserve the population of the white stork

In the period before the return of birds from warm countries, the teams of Elektrodistribuenie North installed platforms for stork nests on poles of the air network in the municipalities of Ruse, Veliko Tarnovo, Sevlievo, Dobrich, Targovishte and Isperih. Some of the installations were carried out at the initiative of the electricity distribution company, and others - on signals from customers or the Regional Inspectorates for Environment and Water.

The activities are part of the EPR North campaign to protect the biodiversity and life of the white stork, as well as to prevent power outages in settlements due to contact of birds with overhead power lines. In the last two years, the electrician teams have installed more than 200 platforms throughout the company's licensed territory.

In order not to disturb the peace of feathered animals during nesting, the installation of special platforms is carried out before the spring and after the autumn migration of birds. After the end of the spring stage of the campaign, the securing of stork nests will continue after the birds fly away in the fall.
