Environmental protection is a commitment of all of us, but it is also a fundamental direction in the policy of any responsible company. And as climate change has an increasing impact on people and businesses around the world, the topic is becoming more and more of a priority today, requiring more attention and concentrated efforts. And just as households strive to build more environmentally friendly and green habits in their daily lives to save resources, the introduction of energy-efficient and “smart” technologies from a business perspective is fundamental to our common mission for nature conservation.

Long-term savings: Investing in renewable energy (solar panels, green energy contracts) can reduce electricity costs in the long run.

Independence from fossil fuel markets: Green energy provides predictable prices and independence from fluctuations in international markets.

Reducing the carbon footprint: This is especially important in high-emission sectors where regulations are becoming stricter (e.g. transport, manufacturing).

Preparing for the future: Tax breaks and incentives for green practices are being introduced in many countries, as well as sanctions for carbon-intensive activities.

Market differentiation: The reputation of green companies helps them stand out from the competition.

Better consumer perception: More and more customers are choosing brands with a responsible environmental policy.

Employee loyalty and talent attraction: ESG policies (Environmental, Social, Governance) are well perceived by young professionals and improve employee motivation.

Improved relations with investors and financial institutions: Banks, funds and partners pay attention to sustainability — green energy is an important indicator.

Certificates of origin: What are they?

Certificate of Origin of Energy (GO)is an official document that proves that a certain amount of electricity is produced from a renewable source — sun, wind, water, biomass, etc.

These certificates certify that the electricity produced is from renewable energy sources and provide information on the manufacturer, the amount of energy, the production period, the generation plant and its capacity.

In addition, the Agency for Sustainable Energy Development (AUER) issues guarantees of origin that are valid for 1 MWh of electricity produced. These guarantees are issued to NEC EAD and are valid for a period of 12 months from the production of the respective unit of energy. AUER issues guarantees of origin to renewable energy producers on the basis of an application, regardless of whether they are licensed under the Energy Act.

One certificate corresponds to 1 MWh of green energy.

Along with the environmental advantages, investment in the construction of a photovoltaic plant reduces the carbon footprint of the business, and additional savings are realized in relation to the direct costs of electricity payable by each company.
